MAUKIE lived in my sidebar for a long, long time. She was cuddly (in her cyber-way) and playful, and inquisitive, and brave. Many of you met her and let her play with your cursors. You heard her purr. But a couple of weeks ago, a curtain of WidgetBox ads covered her. It didn't disappear on its own; it had to be clicked on to go away. Each time I came to my page I found her nearly covered up. I could see her tail swishing wildly in anger, but I couldn't get rid of the ad that frequently separated us. I sent a note to WidgetBox to let them know we weren't happy. They said they'd look into it. But I just couldn't watch her being obscured anymore, so yesterday I removed her. I told Widget Box why. In a week or so, I'll try embedding her here again, and maybe she'll return without that veil. *waves sadly to Maukie, who's so far away*
Is anyone else getting those re-direction (not pop-up!!!!) things here? When you click on a post, SOMETIMES a different page comes up -- an ad -- that also says you'll be redirected to your destination in 8 seconds, and that "our sponsors" are what make things keep going, etc..???? Or am I getting that because somehow Vox knows that I haven't clicked on any sponsors lately?
This has happened to me 4 times, now, in one and a half days.....on my posts and those of other people, in Firefox and Safari.
I don't mind it, but I just invited an old friend to join Vox -- someone who's a little SKITTISH about the Internet following a nasty site-hijacking experience (she ended up with a load of porn on her work computer) -- this'll make her scream and run if it happens to her.
And, honestly, Vox -- I DO check out the ads! I go there on my own; I don't click from here! Last time I did that I ended up with all kinds of clutter and nonsense, so now I get the URL and go there later. No credit for that, I suppose. Guess I'll have to start clicking and hoping again.
Anybody else getting these?
My LoveCrush ads are gone. YAY!!!!!!! Now the ads are for Microsoft. They don't have a crush on me.......*sigh*
